To all San Paro Sheriff's Department recruits,

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, all new deputies will be required to create a new introduction thread for themselves in this section of the forum.  This is to make it easier for the administration to keep tabs on new recruits, and to make a new deputy's life easier by starting a single thread rather than trying to filter through several others.

This procedure will replace the following threads (which will be locked and moved to the Archives):

Why a new thread?  Well, the idea is that people love to ask questions, congratulate people on their acceptance, welcome them to the department and/or engage in interdepartmental hazing (not that I condone that kind of action).  This means that a new deputy's introduction post can get lost in the shuffle, which is a bad thing.  This way, each new person is given a moment in the spotlight before they're thrust into the uncaring world of law enforcement.

Also, in the event a deputy decides to move on from the department, they have a venue to announce their departure so we might give them our best wishes for their future.

Okay, so what's needed?  When you create a new thread, this is the required information:

THREAD TITLE:  The title of your thread should be this:  [INTRO] <yourhandle>
example:  [INTRO] HuskerAce

INTRODUCTION:  A brief "Hello, World" statement.  Who you, the player, are.  Where you're from.  How you heard of the SPSD.  Why you decided to join.  Your favorite flavor of beef stick.  Whatever!  This is your place to let us know who we're dealing with specifically.  The rest of this is character stuff, after all, so knowing the player might be kinda nice, too.

FIRST NAME:  Your character's GIVEN first name.  John, Paul, Georgia, Abdullah, Barack, Wendy, etcetera.  If this confuses you, please PM me for more details.

PREFERRED NAME:  Sometimes you just don't go by the given name.  Mike, Joker, Gabe, Tycho, Pork, Andy, Butch.  If you don't have a nickname, feel free to omit.

LAST NAME:  Your character's last name.  Lennon, McCartney, O'Keefe, Yusuf Ali, Obama, Thomas, etcetera.  If this confuses you, please PM me for more details.

DIVISION:  The department you have enlisted in.  Street Patrol, Special Response Team, Gang Unit, Internal Affairs, Secretarial (hey, we need coffee and pastries).

UNIT NUMBER:  Your unit number.  There is a thread HERE which has a mostly current list of the available and claimed unit numbers for the SPSD.  It will be up to you to take a look through any new recruit pages created since the last update (to be updated weekly, for the record) to determine what number you would like.  If you do not care or do not know, feel free and state so and I will assign you a number.

BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION:  While certainly not required, adding some bio information better rounds out your character and makes them seem more "real" when interacting in a roleplay environment.  As kicked off in this thread, it enables us to get a better feel for what your intentions and motivations are for being a part of the SPSD.  If you haven't thought this far ahead yet, feel free and omit it for now.

Here is the form to attach between your Intro and your Bio.  Use it or risk the derision of your peers!  Cut and paste the code below and fill it out:

Code:
[b]FIRST NAME:[/b]
[b]NICKNAME OR PREFERRED NAME:[/b]
[b]LAST NAME:[/b]
[b]DIVISION:[/b]
[b]UNIT NUMBER:[/b]

Regarding Signatures:

New signatures can be generated within a week or less of posting if you follow the form.  It's small and simple; I hope that it will not be a problem for you.

Please feel free to hotlink your signature from the image file I give you; I have tons of bandwidth, and it will allow me to edit signatures on the fly without back and forth issues.

Do NOT make derivative signatures of this work.  If you wish to create a wholly different SPSD signature, feel free.  Knock offs will just make me very, very irritable.  And as the head of Internal Affairs, making me irritable can lead to bad things later on.  So, just FYI.

We thank you for your interest in serving the people of San Paro in this trying time.  We request that you, as a new deputy, review our Radio Procedures and Standard Operating Procedures.  If you have questions or concerns, feel free to ask them.

Take care and stay safe out there.  I look forward to serving with you.
