The Congress
The RP Congress (RPC) is a collection of roleplayers who play in the online setting of City of Heroes and City of Villains.
The RPC originated in December of 2004, the brainchild of Steve Libbey (a.k.a. Red Saviour). At the time, the goal was to assemble all the players on the Pinnacle server who wanted a more visceral gameplay experience by roleplaying their characters. The RPC began small with a handful of players who met at least once a week to discuss how they might find more roleplayers to join them on their adventures. Within the RPC, players tested the waters to see how their characters would relate to others, and supergroups began to bolster their ranks with more and more heroes. The two inaugural supergroups who have stood the test of time are the Coalition of Communist Crusaders for the Proletariat (CCCP) and the Alliance of Champions, though the RPC now boasts many diverse supergroups, both heroic and villainous.
Through the initial efforts of e-postings, "job fairs" and word-of-mouth, the RPC grew to over one hundred members within a year and online roleplaying spilled over into the realm of collaborative fiction. While still based primarily on the Pinnacle server, the members of the RPC can be found on all servers, both heroic and villainous, and the fiction continues to flood the RPC's forumsite. [1]
