Happy I14 Day, Everyone!

((This is not to be confused with
Rex Manning Day
, but so help me, I will glue quarters on the floor at the D around Alpha Dire just to watch him squirm. That being said...))

A few reminders about the glorious bliss that is the Mission Architect (MA) and common courtesy when it comes to creating arcs, reviewing arcs, and playing arcs.

Thou Shalt Not Begin By Pimping Outright
What doth, er, do I mean? I mean, don't be the person who runs into the global channels or posts to the boards with the immediate "Hey, lookit! I have an ARC! And it's GREAT! And everyone needs to try it," and then proceed to put on wounded puppy eyes because the majority of the crowd looks at you, muffles their commentary, and goes about their business. Don't be the obnoxious person who demands that everyone Try Their Arc First, because you'll probably turn people off to the entire idea.

Thou Shalt Play Thine Own Arc As Well As Others'
If you made your own arc and you want other people to try it out? Play others' arcs first. This is sort of a corollary to the "if you want feedback on your posted fiction, then give feedback to others first" rule that has been mentioned before. Be the person to ask about new arcs to try; then, you can ask others to reciprocate ("Hey, thanks for letting me try out the Robotic Ninja-Trolls arc! Could we swap and give my Exploding Pirate Catgirl arc a try?") and we all wind up winning.

Thou Shalt Give Constructive Criticism
I can be just as mean, nasty, and demoralizing as the next abyssal widow, er, person, but this isn't the place for it. If you review an arc, give constructive criticism. "Your spelling sucks, dude," is far less helpful than "Please spellcheck your character dialogue, the mistakes are distracting." Be honest, but give cues to help the person improve their arc and the overall gameplay experience. Use our Feedback board to do this.

Now, to find the super-glue and the bucket of quarters...

Got a custom-created arc that you would like to advertise? Post below to this thread. Include a screenshot of the MA interface if possible, and note if players/characters should be familiar with any posted CoX canon or RPC stories in order to fully enjoy the experience. Also note if you would prefer feedback be done in PMs through the boards, rather than through the Feedback boards.

    Version 1.4
    • Mission 1: Slight change to send-off dialog for aesthetic purposes.
    • Mission 2: Escort had unknowingly defaulted to 'Any' position. Should now spawn correctly.
    • Mission 2: A bug with the system is causing Carnies to spawn at 40 for teams below this level. A workaround has been put in place so that a) lower-level teams can complete the mission/arc and b) there shouldn't be any more "Carnies? I didn't see any Carnies" issues.

      Version 1.5
      • Grammar changes have been made throughout, helping with the flow of narrative.
      • Mission 2: Slight change to placement and number of battles, v1.4 workaround still in place.

Knowledge of the Carnival of Light and Rosie Raina TM will help but is not required to follow the arc.

I prefer private feedback, but I do have a feedback thread started for shorter messages.

As noted in the description, familiarity with the Banished Pantheon is helpful.  Please make sure to read your clues, especially if you're not the mission leader.  And as it's been noted in other threads, really, the ideal level range is 26 to 31, give or take.

Feedback is helpful, but put it in the Architect Feedback forum?  Or send me a PM.

High-20s, low-30s arc. No EBs or AVs - should be soloable with an average character. Familiarity with Diviner Maros' mission concerning Dr. Theron's devices and West Libertalia as well as the Sky Raiders arc with General Z on heroes is helpful, but shouldn't be required.

After much diddling around and pulling of hair, I am proud to present:

      The Infernal Machine

      Arc ID: 96590
      Length: Very Long
      Morality: Heroic
      Suggested Level: 20-30
      Description:

"There are some things that are not meant to mix... Oil and water. Milk and vinegar. Hip hop and country music. Can you stop a misguided visionary from unraveling the threads of cause and effect themselves?"

A couple notes: I haven't decided on the ICness of this arc, just yet. Not so much that it isn't "canon" for the character it features -- for all intents and purposes, it is -- but more so how does one resolve the notion that many different IC characters are playing the arc separately. Puzzle solving factors into the arc, so keep in mind that some of the goal names might be slightly misdirecting. If you get any goals that say "A clue?" or whatnot, clue goals are always optional but tend to be very insightful and fore-shadowy. Be adequately prepared for ambushes. It should be fairly obvious when you are likely to provoke them, but consider that fair warning.

The morality of the arc is Heroic, but if you're willing to take some creative license, it's not a far cry for a villain to chase this story either, so. Works best in the mid to upper 20's level range. Lower levels can probably run it too -- as low as maybe 10 or even 8 -- but Missions 3 and 5 are going to be tough nuts to crack for lowbies, probably.

I'm very very interested in feedback! I tried to make a point of putting descriptive text on everything that shows up and I'll greatly appreciate having any typos that slipped by pointed out to me. I'm also interested in if there's good balance in the arc. I played through the levels with Batzi on Invincible and got the desired level of difficulty, so we'll have to see if that scales properly. I especially want to know what people think of Missions 2 and 5 -- specifically, whether Mission 2 is too frustrating, and whether Mission 5 ends up being too easy. There is an AV at the end, but you have a lot of latitude in dealing with him. I don't want to spoil the surprises. Smile And speaking of which, please be careful with spoilers in the feedback thread (if in doubt, PM it to me).

Edit: The arc has been modified such that the last mission scales up to level 54. For those of you out there who would like to solo the very special AV fight at the end. Smile

Good for any level range, but best for level 30 to 34.  Two EB/AV's (one is Doc Vahz, the other is a surprise).  Knowledge of past events of the Shadow Guild and the RPC is handy, but not required.  This arc is built specifically targeting RPC members, but a general audience can play.  A note is left advertising the RPC and website.  Oh, and make certain to read all the clues, especially in the third mission.

I made a neo-Mary Sue arc about my brute on Virtue.

I say neo because it is revolving around the gang she used to run with, rather than her.

While I originally intended it to be based around the first rampage where she got stuck in the Zig, it ended up being something else. So now there is a long series of a short missions that are set in King's Row.

The gang itself is supposed to be a street gang, like the Skulls or the Hellions with a hispanic boxing theme. It isn't racially exclusive, but the founding members are all hispanic. While I am not on a computer I can access CoX at present, I am thinking of more I can do with the Arc as I type.

It's called 'Awakened Blood', anyway. I might need some help from a Spanish speaker further on down the track as I do Arcs to seriously curtail some alternate reality events involving these jokers.

      107081 ~ In His Shadow v1.0

Does what it says on the tin. Don't worry, it's not even remotely surreal.
Has been fairly well tested for mission flow but not yet tested with groups larger than two.
Go for levels thirty and up. (Someday I'll get the energy to recreate the one enemy group to go up to level fifty, perhaps, but until then, a little exemping never hurt nobody.)
No knowledge of RPC or me is needed, commonly-known game canon is fine, but read the bloody clues. (It's written for the general literate public.)

Now I'll start checking out others' arcs as I get the chance, perhaps, though my schedule is still a disaster.

The Electric Keet has spoken. Nyaaaaah.

Saints and Sinners Part One v2.4

It's a bit harsh on characters without mez protections or controls, but should be soloable by anyone. I would recommend mid 30s and up level range.

I've lumped the three that I have up as one image to make it easier for hosting.

The three arcs that I have up right now might have these concerns:

Alienation: Be careful when clicking objectives, when entering the first mish, and when leading allies. Be aware that it contains Malta and Vanguard, two of the more difficult standard foes in the game. Apologies for the prose in the fourth mish, as I don't favor its use in missions, but it was necessary in this particular instance.

A Sitch in Time: The last mission drops you considerably in level. This was regrettably required to include the Spetsnaz as foes. I hope it can be forgiven for the sake of the story that's going on. This arc is just part one of a trilogy, all of which exist, but not all of which are published. If you'd like to play part 2 and/or 3, send me a pm and I can publish them for you.

It's a Small, Small World: In the second mission, remember that discretion is the better part of valor. Some stealth power is recommended but not required.

None of these missions rely on knowledge of my RP or anybody else's, only some basic knowledge of the CoH world and not even that in most cases.

So far my feedback has indicated that Small World is the best of the lot. Take that for what you will!

Critter Difficulty has been reviewed from latest patch and minor mob adjustments have been made. (Mostly down in several cases but actually up in a couple)

Highly recommend runners be 40+ and either teamed or not beyond difficulty 1.

      Arc Title: Blood for Roses
      Arc ID: 161399
      Length: Very Long
      Morality: Heroic
      Suggested Level: 40-50

Mission 1: Small map, level 1-54, Collection, Defeat All
Mission 2: Med. map, level 1-54, Release Captive, Escort
Mission 3: Small map, level 1-54, Boss, Patrol
Mission 4: Med. map, level 1-54, Ambush, Boss, Collection, Patrol
Mission 5: Large map, level 1-54, Ambush, Boss, Destructable Object, Patrol, Ally
      Enemy Groups: Council

"Adventure! Fascists! Romance! Can you give star-crossed love a happy ending? The full might of the Council stands between two hearts. Drive them back and let true love reign."

I wanted a story that would build up to a climax over several missions, with a touch of romance.  So far, it has had positive reception.

My first full arc, which I have been working on, then holding back to see what Issue 15 might have to offer it, is now released. Have fun with it, and hopefully the insane Paragon content nazis won’t bear their teeth too much.

Arc Name: The Misadventures and Exploitations of Kiri: Book I
      Arc ID: 280711
Factions: Circle of Thorns, Tsoo, Freakshow, Custom Groups.
Specials: Custom characters and powerful bosses.
Level Range: Recommended for 35+ groups.
      Alignment: Neutral
      Creator Global: @Defeated Kiri
Synopsis: Kiri the Slave Girl has been seen throughout Paragon City for some months now. Who is she? Where does she come from? The Menders of Ouroboros have inexplicably taken a keen interest in her; apparently she has some great destiny to fulfill. She seems to keep getting in over her head and will need your help.
Disclaimer: Mature and suggestive themes, splashed with tongue-in-cheek humor. Elements of magic and horror.

Arc Name: Fate Unbounded I: The Infernal Machine
      Arc ID: 329696
      Length: Very Long (five missions)
      Alignment: Heroic
Challenges: Custom characters, Bosses, one Arch-Villain. Also, lots of optional objectives and some puzzle solving, after a fact.

      Description:
Can you stop a mad visionary from constructing a dangerous machine that threatens to tear open the barriers between realities and unleash the demonic horde on the world? What is the terrible secret behind his extraordinary powers? Clash with Fate personified in the first of a three part epic!

      Note:
This is the first arc in a three arc epic, though each arc is essentially a self contained story within the larger framework. It is also, after a fact, the origin story for Diamond Ace, my main redsider. Feedback is not only welcome, it is encouraged! Very Happy Especially if there are typos or errors.
