I almost never use AE on my own. When I do, I rarely stray outside of Dev's Choice missions.

If I do stray, I get punished fast and hard by boring stories, impossible-to-complete missions, unstoppable custom mobs, or extreme AVs/EBs.

I use the system for specific roleplay on occasion, and get a lot of joy out of it that way. But I basically never play an arc made by someone I don't know and probably won't change this habit.

Totally, 100%, absolutely guilty on the love of making custom mobs, it's worse than Alt-itis. However, I do agree that Canon mobs can be under used.

Also, Al, I REALLY need to get one of my stories with a custom faction published since I go out of my way to avoid the following now in them:

-Anything lower than boss having any control powers (and bosses are meant only to have "soft" controls such as sleep and immob)

-Anything having mez protection.

-Giving less than 100% EXP at the appropriate level. (This has involved a few exploits of the present system, as a small tip: Device's Caltrops give a LARGE boost to EXP percentage.)

-Somewhat less avoided is using armor sets for them at all, though I will sometimes use the passives and one of the main powers to keep EXP rewards buoyant. Still avoid mez protection.

I tend to think custom enemies are overused.  People focus so much on making their own little group that they stray away from the Paragon City history.  There is so much ricj story to play off of.  Mine are straight Rikti, across the board.

In any case, thanks for the replies.  I hope they give the AE some love soon, and do something to lure people back to it.

Rarely.

I have some issues with AE, the biggest being the fact that most arcs featuring custom critters seem to be skewed towards rendering squishies pointless solo.  I play a lot of controllers.  I solo a lot of controllers.  When every minion has status protection it makes playing a controller difficult.  That plus the signal to farm ratio being so out of whack still tends to dampen my enthusiasm quite a bit for AE.

That being said, I do have one arc out there but the feedback on it outside the RPC has been pretty negative.  Its capped at 29 and features wall to wall Banished Pantheon.  Personally I like shredding zombies.  Most people seem to disagree.

funny enough, the latest patchnotes made it possible for me to complete a story arc I had been working on, but sadly, it's highly character centric.
And on that note I should work on the Shiki, Japan Task force.

but for playing it, I actually ran Doctor Geist and the Scientific method last night.

I'm just curious.  With the latest expansion now in full swing, is anyone bothering with the AE any more?  As one of only six people with five star arcs that have more than 100 runs (I have two, actually Wink ), I have a vested interest in finding out if it'd really be worth my time to start a new one.  Most of those eleven (out of over 64,000) arcs are very story-centric, with a lot of work put into them - mine included, of course.  If you're not playing now, are you planning on ever checking it out again?

Wow, there is a man who was clearly never a scout.

If you have one spark that catches nearby debris, you may deal with the situation by:
1: Stomping on it (For safety),
or
2: Squirting lighter-fluid on it while the Scoutmaster's back is turned (Because it is Awesome.)

The complete series of The Adventures of Black Mask & Pale Rider is now available for digital download at www.obooko.com!  Cover art is by Clarrisa R. Hummel, who has helped bring to life the visuals of Shani and Pania.

Elven magic meets gunslinger grit. What happens when two elven travellers find themselves in the United States in the middle of the Civil War? The Adventures of Black Mask and Pale Rider tells the story of two elven women who’s curiosity gets the better of them.

The wild ride takes them from the Union to the Confederacy and back again. Along the way they make enemies and friends and learn a little bit about this world, and about themselves. An adventure of six guns and sorcery.

About Obooko

The obooko website was launched from England into Cyberspace in November 2009 and provides an opportunity for new and established writers from all parts of the World to self-publish and promote their work free of charge.

Your contacts at obooko are Tony Stanton and Tim Johnson.

By removing barriers and making it easy to put work in front of an audience, we hope to allay the fears that prevent the majority of us from writing and publishing.

The complementary objective of obooko is to offer everyone access to free contemporary ebooks in a wide range of genres and categories. Why free? Because not everyone can afford to buy printed books. With this in mind obooko was created to keep people reading, regardless of means.

By offering free copies of work, under Standard Copyright or Creative Commons licences, authors can benefit from valuable feedback from obooko members. This can be used to improve work before it is listed for sale on retail sites or sent to publishers for consideration. In many cases this negates the need for extensive professional editing. What's more, all authors have the chance of winning an obooko prize, which will be judged by our members, not a panel of experts.

The Adventures of Black Mask & Pale Rider, available in PDF format, for download from www.obooko.com!
